Re-union with Net Practise

There are no words to my excitement. Cricket has always been my first love. Rest take a back seat though exceptions can be made. After 8 long years I got a chance to play some good cricket among some good professionals. Played during my childhood, various tournaments like Giles shield, Harris shield, MCA, Parle-g, the ever green kanga league and so on. But then soccer with its charm made me shift my sporting duties and I gave up cricket.

It was an amazing day of net practice  Starting of with the regular warm up, some fielding practice and last but not the least the nets which all of us were waiting for. It went on for a couple of hours before my fellow mates started breathing heavily including the six pack men.  There was a lot of enthusiasm as most of us thought it was going to be the selection day but the selection committee reduced the effort that everyone was putting in by cancelling the selection for that day . It was just a trial for a few to show their worth, few to be judgmental about their skill and for few to brag about.

It was amazing to be back on the field wearing the white outfit, the smell of the outfield and the mud was just incredible. As I now move ahead professionally after completing my education, I will not only work but I also look forward to participating in many outdoor corporate activities.

Shy Indian

Good afternoon readers, I would like to introduce you to the " Shy Indian".

While I was on my way back home after a tiresome working day, my mother asked me to buy some medicines from the drug store. Witnessed a guy in his  mid 30s embarrassed to buy a stash of condoms. I wondered why, and then thought to myself why are people ashamed to buy condoms? Is it a crime to buy condoms? Will the society marginalize you? So many questions running at the back of my mind...... I wish I could answer all of these.  A mid 30 year old man embarrassed to buy condoms is surprising .

A condom is used to reduce the probability of pregnancy & sexually transmitted diseases. It's a birth control measure. The current population of India is approx 1.22 billion and one out three Indians feel shy to buy condoms from the shop. The statistics say it all. We are living in an over-populated country, hence using condoms should not be a shy factor. We see numerous advertisements of personal care products, hence we buy it. In the same manner if we see a  condom ad how difficult is it to go and buy the same. My advice to all the shy Indians is to watch the family planning campaign launched  by HLL.

You are not committing a crime unless you want to keep your extra-marital affairs under wrap and you are worried that your nosy neighbor might tell your wife that you were buying condoms in your absence.

Be open minded, carefree and relaxed, and say it out loud " I am not shy"

Media Dependency.

There is a shift in paradigm when it comes to Media usage . Two decades ago the first thing that an individual would normally do  is  wake up and do his morning chores, read the newspaper with a cuppa tea, chat with their family members, and continue with their daily routine. Times have changed now. In the 21st century or as per what I have noticed among my peers or my surroundings, the first thing we do is check our phones, any messages, bbm, whatsapp, login to Facebook immediately, even brushing has taken a back seat thanks to Facebook  because the first thing we need to do is update our so called "status". I still haven't understood the concept of a status, though I still need to update one post a day. People just cannot keep their hands off from tagging, poking, sharing pictures etc. Its an addiction which is real and slow. Its more of E-Newspapers too these days. Every Publisher has created his own Application to make things much simpler for a consumer to read while on the move.

What is so attractive about this entire social networking other than catching up with old mates, far off family members.Technology has certainly made things simpler for us, but most of us fail to understand what that technology is connecting us to?  It doesn't excite us any more if someone from abroad gives you a ring. The only reason being we see their posts, updates regularly on social networking sites. The fizz of communication has totally drained out. The youth(including me) are  deprived with essential ingredients that are vital to being human.

I hope to see what the next decade would look like, because technology keeps improving & elevating  day by day. So I presume my kids are going to give me a tuff time for the same. As the 60's generation says" In our times we proposed with a handwritten letter, and you are proposing through E-mails, facebook etc.. Kya Zambian aa gaya hai?”. Its time for us to take a “Digital Sabbatical”

In short, we are the victims of  the social media epidemic.

The Prodigal Gender!!

We all live in a fast paced city, we come across so many things in our day to day routine, but the recall is very minimal, probably a good advertisement hoarding that we’ve seen, a funny incident on the way, a cop yawning to glory, but there is one thing common that we come across each and every day at regular intervals i.e. Eunuchs. We have mixed combinations for them i.e. MaleXFemale, Male+Female etc., No one but “US” are responsible for the creation of this disparity but very few know that its not out of choice they are that way, but situations has made them that way. Eunuchs are castrated males; the word derives from the Greek” Keeper of the bed” because castrated men were in demand.

Considered to be the Third Gender of the society, for most Indians today Eunuchs are satanic creatures. The word “Hijra” is used to humiliate people. They are socially relegated to the fringes & economically impoverished. According to the survey carried out by SOOE, the number of Eunuchs in India is around 15 lakhs & they lead a lifestyle that is in sync with their sexuality.

Eunuchs are found everywhere in India, they are omnipresent. Standing out in the crowds at different diagonal junctions of the country. They are shabbily dressed, loads of powder, make up, lipstick, in short a sight you don’t want to see. They come in groups, roam around at market places, railway compartments and mainly at traffic signals hustling pedestrians for some cash. Usually pedestrians give away some part of their cash, as they don’t want to be nudged, touched, cursed or flashed by them.

It’s high time we pull up our socks and help this strange creature to be treated as human beings. Every Creature/individual dreams to lead a decent life and I hope someday we open our eyes and treat them as a part of “US.”
